MFK Karviná expelled from Czech First League for match‑fixing

The Czech Football Association’s Ethics Committee ruled on 15 June 2026 that MFK Karviná had engaged in unlawful influence over three First‑League matches. The club was expelled from the Czech First League and fined 12 million CZK (about €400 k). Club mayor Jan Wolf received a 12‑year ban from any football activity and a fine of 120 000 EUR; five other individuals were also sanctioned with bans ranging from 15 months to 12 years and fines up to 5 500 EUR.

Karviná has filed an appeal with the FAČR Appeal Committee within the five‑day window, disputing the process and the lack of consideration of evidence it submitted. The decision remains non‑binding until the appeal is resolved. If upheld, the club will be relegated to a lower division, lose its place in the upcoming UEFA European League qualifying round, and forfeit revenue estimated at 18 million CZK from TV rights and around 2.1 million CZK in local hospitality income. The vacancy could be filled by Jablonec or allow Prague‑based Dukla to remain in the second tier pending the final verdict.
