Karwa Chauth traditions and festive preparations

Karwa Chauth celebrations involve various traditional customs, including specific beauty rituals and festive culinary preparations.

For traditional adornment, many women use Alta, a red pigment, to decorate their feet. Suggested designs include applying thick red Alta to the fingers, creating lotus flower patterns in the center of the foot, combining Alta with Mehndi (henna) patterns, or using floral and leaf motifs. Some modern variations include adding silver dots and outlines to the traditional red pigment.

Culinary traditions for the festival emphasize sweets to be consumed after breaking the fast following the moon sighting. Recommended dessert options include Mawa Malpua, Shahi Tukda, Almond Halwa, and Fruit Rabri.
