Karya Farma HBX develops NASA-inspired nutrition project in Aydın

Karya Farma HBX Ar-Ge Academy, operating within the Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADÜ) Technopark, has announced the development of a new food composition inspired by NASA’s nutritional approaches for long-term space missions. The project synthesizes 25 years of scientific research and data from seven different patent studies into a single formulation model.

The goal is to create a low-volume, high-nutrient product that provides intensive daily nutritional support through minimal consumption. The formulation utilizes endemic plants and seafood, focusing on Omega-3, Omega-6, and Omega-9 fatty acids, as well as various minerals, phenolic compounds, and antioxidants. The design also aims to ensure easy digestion to maximize efficiency.

While inspired by space travel requirements regarding weight, volume, and waste reduction, the project is intended for terrestrial emergency use. The compact, highly portable food is designed to support nutrition during disasters such as earthquakes, pandemics, large fires, wars, mass migrations, or any situation where food supply chains are disrupted.
