Karşıyaka Municipality addresses waste collection issues in İzmir

Karşıyaka Municipality has issued a statement addressing recent waste collection issues in the Karşıyaka district of İzmir. The municipality attributed the disruptions to delays in the procurement of Multi-Purpose Garbage Vehicles (ÇAÇA) required for emptying underground bins.

According to the administration, the delays stem from late deliveries of vehicles acquired through official donations and a lack of bidders in a recent tender process. To mitigate the situation, the municipality has introduced 17 new garbage trucks from its own resources to create a more sustainable system for emptying galvanized bins.

As an interim measure, the municipality has ordered 278 800-liter galvanized containers and 250 1100-liter plastic containers through the State Supply Office. These replacement containers are being placed near underground bins to manage waste until the specialized vehicles arrive.
