Karşıyaka Municipality begins restoration of historic health center
Karşıyaka Municipality has launched a restoration project for the Opr. Dr. Bülent Zeren Health Center, a historical building constructed between 1950 and 1960. The structure is officially registered as a “protected immovable cultural asset” due to its significance in representing the residential architecture of that era.
The project is being carried out through a cooperation protocol between Karşıyaka Municipality and the Izmir Governorship, with support from the Izmir Governorship Investment Monitoring and Coordination Presidency. The restoration will focus on preserving the building’s original structural and formal characteristics, including strengthening the foundation, repairing damaged sections, and renovating everything from the interior to the roof.
The works are expected to be completed in approximately eight months, after which landscaping will be finalized. Once the restoration is complete, the Karşıyaka Municipality Health Affairs Directorate, which has been temporarily relocated, will return to serve the public in the renovated historical building.
