Karşıyaka Municipality conducts disaster awareness training

Karşıyaka Municipality is continuing its educational initiatives to increase social awareness and preparedness regarding natural disasters. As part of these efforts, students from the İsmail Hakkı Tonguç Education Center (KARGEM) participated in training sessions at the Disaster Education Center to mark International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction.

The program, located within the Örnekköy Construction Site Facilities, provides both theoretical and practical training on disasters such as earthquakes, fires, and floods. The free program features various simulation stations, including debris corridors, flood and landslide simulations, fault line and building shake simulations, tsunami and soil liquefaction simulations, fire extinguishing, and smoke escape corridors.

Additionally, the training includes first aid application stations and search and rescue vehicle stations to teach safe evacuation and emergency intervention methods. Mayor Yıldız Ünsal emphasized the importance of being prepared with correct information, particularly for children, to build a more resilient community.
