Karşıyaka Municipality takes legal action over advertising unit removal

Karşıyaka Municipality is taking legal action against the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality following the removal of more than 20 advertising units owned by Kent AŞ, a municipal company. The removal was conducted by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality police teams on the grounds that the units faced main arteries.

Karşıyaka Mayor Yıldız Ünsal stated that the issue is not about the removal of specific posters or images, but rather the economic damage caused to the public company. Ünsal claims that the advertising units, which serve as a significant revenue source for Kent AŞ, were dismantled in a manner that rendered them scrap, resulting in a loss of public assets.

The municipality alleges that the removal process was unlawful, claiming that operations began less than 24 hours after the notice was served, without allowing for the legal objection period. Karşıyaka Municipality maintains that protecting these assets is essential for safeguarding the income of the municipality and the rights of its workers.
