Kasaragod police reunite woman with children after 13 years
Police in the Kasaragod district of Kerala have reunited a 44-year-old woman with her two children after she was located following 13 years in hiding. The woman had been accused in 2013 of assaulting her son, who was 12 at the time, leading to a case under the Juvenile Justice Act.
Investigations revealed that the woman’s estranged husband allegedly framed her to settle marital scores. After being released on bail in 2013, the woman went into hiding and worked as a caregiver in Tiruvalla to avoid prosecution. During her absence, her husband remarried, and her children were raised by their father and paternal grandmother.
The woman was located on October 21 as part of a special police drive to resolve long-standing cases involving crimes against children. Upon her appearance in court, the case reached an unexpected conclusion when her son, now 25, informed the court that he was withdrawing the allegations.
