Kasese woman dies following mob attack over suspected poisoning

A woman has died in Kasese District following a mob attack during a funeral. The deceased, identified as Ithungu Mary, was allegedly assaulted by mourners who accused her of poisoning a four-year-old boy, Mumbere Trust.

The incident occurred during the burial of the child, who had reportedly died at Kagando Hospital. Police stated that Ithungu, who was the child’s former stepmother, was rescued from the crowd by officers from Kisinga Police Station and rushed to the same hospital. She was pronounced dead later that evening.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances of the assault and the validity of the poisoning allegations. The body is awaiting a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
