Kasey Kahne reportedly returning to NASCAR in 2027
Former NASCAR Cup Series champion Kasey Kahne is reportedly nearing a deal to return to full-time racing in 2027. According to reports from The Athletic, the 46-year-old driver is in discussions to pilot a full-time entry for Spire Motorsports in the Craftsman Truck Series.
Kahne has not competed in a full NASCAR season since 2017. His Cup Series career, which included 18 wins and 529 starts, ended abruptly in 2018 due to health issues. Following his departure from NASCAR, he transitioned to sprint car racing, competing in the World of Outlaws and High Limit Racing.
If the deal with Spire Motorsports is finalized, it would mark a significant shift for the organization, which has utilized a rotating roster of drivers for its Truck Series entries. Kahne previously demonstrated his ability to compete at a high level during a 2025 appearance in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series at Rockingham Speedway, where he finished 14th.
