Kaseya report identifies human error as top cybersecurity threat
Kaseya’s 2026 Cybersecurity Report reveals that human error remains the most significant unsolved challenge in the industry. Based on a survey of over 1,100 IT professionals and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) across more than 60 countries, the research indicates that 68% of respondents identify human error, including social engineering and distraction, as their primary threat concern for the coming year.
Among organizations that suffered security incidents in the last three years, four of the top five contributing factors were attributed to human behavior. These included poor user practices or gullibility (41%) and a lack of end-user cybersecurity training (40%).
The report also highlights a disconnect regarding regulatory compliance. While nearly 65% of respondents believe they could pass a compliance audit without preparation, nearly half identified incomplete documentation or policies as a potential hurdle. Additionally, the study notes that many IT departments are struggling with resource constraints, as only 20% reported that their cybersecurity budgets are growing in proportion to actual risks.
