Kash Patel defends FBI against claims of Most Wanted list manipulation
FBI Director Kash Patel has defended the agency against allegations that it manipulated its Most Wanted fugitives list. Responding to reports suggesting the bureau added individuals to the list when their arrests were already imminent, Patel stated that the process is managed independently by career staff rather than political leaders.
Patel highlighted the success of “Operation Summer Heat 2.0,” which he credited to a restructuring that moved nearly 2,000 employees to field positions. According to federal authorities, the operation resulted in over 8,900 arrests, alongside the seizure of thousands of weapons and hundreds of fentanyl shipments. Patel noted that the FBI has apprehended all 10 fugitives currently on its Most Wanted list during the second Trump administration.
