Kashim Shettima confirms APC vice‑presidential candidacy for 2027 election

Vice President Kashim Shettima formally submitted his nomination to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for vice president in the 2027 Nigerian general election. The confirmation document was handed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, and the event was publicised by Special Assistant Olusegun Dada on social media.

The move follows weeks of speculation that President Tinubu might replace Shettima with a northern Christian candidate. Opposition figures and some international observers have raised concerns about a Muslim‑Muslim ticket, but the presentation solidifies Shettima’s position as the APC’s running mate for the upcoming election.
