Kashmir authorities file chargesheet against two for alleged overseas job scam
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch has filed a chargesheet against Sajad Abdullah and Jahangir Ahmad Tanky for allegedly defrauding job seekers. The two individuals, proprietors of Al-Aqsa Global Services Pvt. Ltd. in Srinagar, are accused of collecting over Rs 15 lakh by promising lucrative employment in reputed foreign companies.
Investigations revealed that the consultancy was registered only as an excursion agent for tour and travel services and was not authorized to operate as a recruiting agent for overseas employment. Complainants reported that the promised jobs were never provided, and refund cheques issued by the accused were reportedly dishonored due to insufficient funds.
While the investigation has been concluded, officials noted that Jahangir Ahmad Tanky has been absconding since 2025. The chargesheet has been filed before the Court of PT&E in Srinagar under various sections of the IPC and the Emigration Act.
