Kashmir Chrysanthemum Garden aims to boost autumn tourism
The Chrysanthemum Garden in Srinagar, also known as Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood, has been expanded to serve as a major seasonal attraction for autumn in Kashmir. Developed by the Department of Floriculture, the garden features approximately 350,000 plants that are expected to produce over 12 million blooms. The flowering season is projected to last until early December.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has invited both local residents and tourists to visit the site, which is located within the Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden complex near the Zabarwan Range. This year, the garden has increased its variety from 35 to 72 distinct types of chrysanthemums.
Upgrades to the facility include expanded flower beds, a decorative plaza, water features, pergolas, and improved visitor amenities such as selfie points and pathways. Officials stated the goal is to establish the garden as a premier autumn destination comparable to the region's famous spring Tulip Garden, ensuring tourism remains active throughout the year.
