Crime Branch Kashmir arrests long-absconding multi-crore fraud suspect
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch has arrested Soom Nath Koul, an individual who had been absconding for several years. The arrest was made in compliance with orders from the Court of the Sub-Judge in Srinagar.
Koul is allegedly involved in five separate cases involving multi-crore fraud, forgery, and cheating. The investigations center on land-related fraud involving migrant properties, where the accused reportedly used fake Powers of Attorney and fraudulent agreements to sell. To evade detection, Koul allegedly operated under multiple identities, including Brij Nath Bhat, Mohan Lal Dhar, and Hadi Nath Dhar.
Another individual, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Dar, was arrested last week in connection with the same investigation. Authorities are continuing to look into the extent of the financial fraud and the involvement of other accomplices.
