Kashmir Education Department voids fake teacher appointment
The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has declared the appointment of Imtiyaz Ahmad, a resident of Rawalpora, Srinagar, as “null and void ab-initio” following a departmental inquiry. The investigation revealed that the appointment, confirmation, and promotion orders cited in Ahmad’s service records were never actually issued by the competent authority.
Ahmad had purportedly been appointed as a laboratory assistant in 2013 and subsequently promoted to a teacher in 2018. Based on these records, he received a salary for 13 years. The discrepancy came to light after Ahmad failed to report for duty following the 2023-24 winter vacation, having been unauthorizedly absent since February 21, 2024.
The inquiry, conducted by the Chief Education Officer of Srinagar, confirmed that the official orders listed in Ahmad’s files—including Government Order No. 395-GAD and Order No. 1004-DSEK—did not exist in the department’s authentic records.
