Kasim Gokyildiz resigns as Heart of Lions head coach

Turkish coach Kasim Gokyildiz has resigned as the head coach of Heart of Lions following a difficult start to the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season. Gokyildiz stepped down after managing only eight matches, during which the Kpando-based club secured just one victory, two draws, and five losses.

The club currently sits just one point above the relegation zone with eight points from eight matches. Gokyildiz had previously signed a one-year contract with an option for renewal, taking over the role after the departure of Bashir Hayford. His previous managerial experience in Ghana includes stints with King Faisal, Bechem United, and Hohoe United.

Heart of Lions will look to stabilize their performance in their upcoming Matchday 9 fixture against Bechem United at the Kpando Sports Stadium.
