Kasim Kamenica reflects on legendary handball career

Legendary handball coach Kasim Kamenica reflected on his extensive career and the historical impact of the Yugoslavian handball system. Kamenica, who began his career in Goražde before moving to Borac iz Uroševca, highlighted the structured development and long-term work that once defined the region's success in international competitions.

Kamenica discussed his pivotal role in building RK Zagreb in the late 1980s. After joining the second-division club, he aimed to create a team stronger than Cibona, eventually leading them to the Yugoslav championship. Although he departed in 1991, his foundational work contributed to the club's subsequent European titles in 1992 and 1993.

His career also included coaching Partizan, which he helped return to the top tier after an 18-year absence, and leading the Slovenian national team to European silver in 2004. Kamenica expressed nostalgia for the former Yugoslavian sporting system, noting the strength of its clubs and national selections.
