Giannitsa: 27-year-old dies following nightclub assault
A 27-year-old man has died after being assaulted during a dispute at a nightclub in Giannitsa, Pella. The victim had been hospitalized in critical condition at Papageorgiou Hospital in Thessaloniki, suffering from severe traumatic brain injuries.
The incident began in the early hours of Saturday, August 29, when a verbal altercation occurred between the victim and a 26-year-old man inside a nightclub. The confrontation later moved outside to Plástira Street, where the 26-year-old allegedly struck the 27-year-old with a punch. The victim lost consciousness and fell, striking his head on the ground.
A 26-year-old suspect was previously detained and charged with causing serious intentional bodily harm. Following the victim's death on Sunday, September 6, authorities are expected to upgrade the charges against the suspect.
