Kaspa cryptocurrency utilizes BlockDAG structure for high-speed transactions
Kaspa (KAS) is a proof-of-work cryptocurrency that utilizes a BlockDAG (directed acyclic graph) structure rather than a traditional linear blockchain. This architecture allows multiple blocks to be created simultaneously, which are then organized into a binding order. This technical approach enables the network to process approximately ten blocks per second, significantly increasing transaction speeds compared to the ten-minute block intervals seen in networks like Bitcoin.
Launched in November 2021 without a pre-sale or foundation-controlled treasury, all circulating Kaspa coins are generated through mining block rewards. As of late October 2026, the cryptocurrency held a market capitalization of approximately $1 billion, ranking 75th among all digital assets.
On November 4, 2026, the network is scheduled for a reduction in its block reward, which will decrease from 2.060 to 1.945 KAS. This adjustment will reduce the daily amount of newly created coins in a network where 96.8 percent of the total supply is already in circulation.
