Kaspars Gorkšs nominated for Latvian State Chancellery Director

Kaspars Gorkšs, the General Director of the Confederation of Latvian Employers (LDDK), has been nominated for the position of State Chancellery Director. Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs intends to move forward with Gorkšs's appointment following the final round of the competition.

Former State Chancellery Director Jānis Citskovskis commented on the nomination, noting that while Gorkšs may not be fully prepared for the role yet, he possesses high potential to become a key driver for the team. Citskovskis suggested that the current political climate requires a director capable of working closely with political powers to implement necessary changes.

In response to social media criticism regarding his background in professional sports, Gorkšs addressed concerns about his professional competence. He highlighted his academic credentials, including a bachelor's degree in law and a master's degree in political science, as well as his nine years of administrative and public sector experience. Gorkšs stated his goal is to increase the efficiency of public administration and implement reforms from within the system.
