Kaspars Vecvagars joins Lithuanian second‑division club after Latvian title triumph

Latvian basketball coach Kaspars Vecvagars, who led Valmiera Glass/ViA to a sweep of the three domestic trophies – the Užavas Cup, the Latvian‑Estonian Championship and the Latvian Basketball League – said the successful season has ended any lingering speculation about high‑profile offers. After a brief family holiday he confirmed his focus on coaching, noting, “Since I started working as a coach I have loved working with youngsters… they come with big dreams and great motivation.”

Vecvagars has now signed with the Lithuanian second‑division side Kaunas Žalgiris, the reserve team of the country’s premier club. He describes the move as a step up in his development, adding that he will have the chance to train with a larger organization, maintain regular communication with the senior team, and work with youth players competing in the EuroLeague youth circuit.
