Kasper Dolberg to miss remainder of season after ACL injury

Ajax striker Kasper Dolberg is expected to miss the remainder of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The 29-year-old Danish forward sustained the injury during a training session with the Denmark national team in late September.

Dolberg successfully underwent surgery in Copenhagen on Tuesday, October 6. He will remain in Denmark for the initial stage of his recovery before returning to Amsterdam to complete his rehabilitation at Ajax. A typical recovery period for this type of injury is between six and nine months.

Because the injury occurred during international duty, Ajax may be eligible for compensation through the FIFA Club Protection Programme. This insurance policy covers a portion of a player's base salary during periods of temporary total disability resulting from injuries sustained while on national team duty.
