Kasper Schmeichel reveals he is working as a full-time Uber driver
Former Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has revealed that he is working as a full-time Uber driver following his forced retirement from professional football. The 39-year-old, a former Premier League winner with Leicester City, was compelled to end his career after suffering a severe shoulder injury involving his biceps and rotator cuff.
Speaking at a European Football Clubs meeting in Copenhagen, Schmeichel described the transition as “strange” and noted that he was not prepared for the sudden loss of the competitive routine and dopamine levels associated with professional sports. He mentioned that he is currently balancing driving with television work and attending various training courses.
Despite his current occupation, Schmeichel expressed a strong desire to return to football in a professional capacity. He stated that his “fire is still burning” and that he aims to pursue a career in coaching or management in the future, noting that he finds great enjoyment in helping young players develop on the pitch.
