Corporate Cybersecurity Gaps Highlighted in New Kaspersky and WatchGuard Reports

A Kaspersky Compromise Assessment report finds that many organisations detect cyber‑incidents only after long delays. In 31% of cases attackers operated unnoticed for over three months, and 52% of high‑severity breaches remained hidden for more than 90 days; the oldest incident was missed for four years. Only 20% of detections relied on manual methods, while 60% of firms lacked high‑confidence alerts from their tools. Backup systems also pose a risk, with about 40% of web‑shells discovered only in restored backups.

A WatchGuard 2026 Cybersecurity Hygiene Survey of Turkish businesses shows that 64% of employees use unauthorised AI tools, while 76% reuse passwords across accounts and 30% share passwords. Moreover, 70% access public Wi‑Fi for work, 50% connect to corporate resources without VPN protection, and 55% use work devices for personal purposes, exposing organisations to credential theft, data loss and malware infection.
