Kaspersky expert predicts era of AI vs. AI cyber warfare
Sergey Lozhkin, Head of Global Research and Analysis for Kaspersky's APAC and META regions, predicts a future where artificial intelligence agents engage in automated combat against one another in the cybersecurity landscape.
Lozhkin states that AI will play an increasingly decisive role in both preparing and executing cyberattacks, as well as in institutional defense mechanisms. The entire lifecycle of an attack—including intelligence gathering, social engineering, system infiltration, and data theft—could be managed by AI agents acting either within a single system or through interconnected structures.
This shift suggests a period of highly automated attacks with minimal human intervention. While AI will be used to develop more sophisticated malware and targeted ransomware, advanced AI agent groups will also be deployed to protect organizations, creating a dynamic where AI defends against AI.
