Kaspersky report: 75% of global companies plan to boost IT security

A recent survey by Kaspersky reveals that 75% of companies worldwide intend to strengthen their IT security capabilities within the next year. The study, which surveyed 1,800 cybersecurity professionals and decision-makers across 18 countries, indicates that 99% of organizations now view IT security as a core business function.

Investment trends vary by sector and size. Among large enterprises, 83% plan to increase security measures, with manufacturing (84%), IT (82%), and banking/finance/insurance (79%) showing the highest intent. Mid-sized companies follow closely at 78%. Geographically, 79% of companies in Latin America and 78% in the Asia-Pacific region expressed plans to enhance their capabilities.

Despite the increased investment, a significant shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals remains a critical bottleneck. Some companies reported taking over six months to hire suitable experts. Kaspersky warns that rising investment could exacerbate this talent gap unless comprehensive approaches—such as expanded access to education, industry-academia collaboration, and clear career development paths—are implemented to bridge the skills divide.
