Kaspersky report highlights privacy risks in Colombia

A report from cybersecurity firm Kaspersky reveals that a significant majority of users in Colombia do not review the privacy settings or permissions granted to the applications they install. According to the findings, eight out of ten users fail to check these details, potentially exposing personal and financial information.

While 77% of surveyed Colombians keep their mobile operating systems updated and 73% delete unused applications, only 20% verify the access permissions granted to their programs. This lack of oversight can allow malicious software to access sensitive data such as cameras, microphones, locations, contacts, and files, or even intercept verification codes from messages and notifications.

Such vulnerabilities can facilitate identity theft, fraud, and other cybercrimes, in addition to causing unexpected mobile data consumption or costs.
