Kaspersky research highlights Gen Z vulnerability to cyberattacks

A global study by Kaspersky involving 7,200 participants reveals that Generation Z is highly vulnerable to cyberattacks despite being the most digitally connected generation. While 57% of Gen Z respondents spend more time online than offline—the highest percentage among all surveyed generations—there is a significant gap between their digital confidence and their actual security practices.

Research shows that only 27% of Gen Z use antivirus software on their mobile devices, a rate notably lower than other generations. Additionally, this group is less likely to change passwords regularly. Although 59% of Gen Z feel comfortable in digital environments, only 28% believe they possess advanced digital skills.

The consequences of these security gaps are evident, with 52% of Gen Z reporting that they have already suffered attacks targeting their devices, online accounts, or personal data. Specific incidents include 17% experiencing social media account breaches and 12% losing access to gaming accounts.
