Kassel fraud ring steals thousands from senior after fake police call

On Thursday 11 June 2026, scammers posed as police officers in a Russian‑language shock call to a senior woman in Kassel, Germany. They claimed her grandson had been involved in a serious accident and threatened imprisonment unless a cash bail was provided. Under pressure, the victim placed several thousand euros in a bag and handed it to a man at her door in the Süsterfeld‑Helleböhn neighbourhood.

The Kassel criminal police are investigating the case and have appealed for information about the alleged collector, described as a roughly 30‑year‑old man with curly hair and a slim build. The senior filed a police report on the following Monday after realizing she had been deceived.
