Kastamonu couple faces trial after drug seizure
A court case has commenced for an engaged couple arrested in Kastamonu, Turkey, after being found in possession of significant quantities of narcotics. During a police operation on the D100 highway in the Tosya district on June 8, authorities seized 393.38 grams of methamphetamine and 65.08 grams of cocaine, along with a glass pipe.
During the hearing at the Kastamonu Heavy Penal Court, the defendants, identified as N. U. and Y. T., claimed they were merely users and were unaware of the exact weight of the substances. They stated they had purchased the drugs in Istanbul and were traveling toward Ordu. While the defendants requested acquittal and release, the prosecutor argued that the amount of drugs seized exceeded personal use limits and requested their punishment.
The court has decided to continue the detention of both individuals and has adjourned the trial to a later date.
