Kastamonu farmer builds successful goose farm after pandemic relocation

Suat Bayramoğlu, a former construction materials trader in Istanbul, successfully transitioned to goose farming after relocating to his hometown in the Devrekani district of Kastamonu during the 2020 pandemic.

Starting with 130 geese, Bayramoğlu has expanded his operation over the last five and a half years to include 600 breeding geese. He specializes in the large grey goose breed, often referred to as the Kars goose. Utilizing an incubator with a 1,200-egg capacity, he produces approximately 1,000 chicks per cycle.

His business provides geese, chicks, and fertilized eggs to customers across Turkey, including significant demand from Kars, a major center for goose production. Bayramoğlu noted that despite his production levels, he struggles to meet the high demand received through social media and other channels.
