Kastamonu, Turkey construction worker killed after equipment overturns
A construction worker identified as Yasin Çelik died in Cide district, Kastamonu Province, when heavy equipment collapsed onto him at a sand mine. One report describes a 32‑year‑old excavator operator who was trapped under the overturned machine; another report cites a 30‑year‑old forklift operator who fell beneath the vehicle during a reverse maneuver. Emergency services arrived quickly, but Çelik was declared dead at the scene and later transferred to the morgue of Cide State Hospital. He was married and left two children. Prosecutors and gendarmerie have opened a wide‑ranging investigation to determine the cause of the accident and any possible negligence.
