Kastamonu, Turkey Floods Prompt Evacuations and Road Closures
Heavy rain triggered meteorological warnings 83 and 85 for Kastamonu province. In the Cide district, water inundated more than 150 homes, businesses and warehouses, prompting the evacuation of 12 residents to a tourism hotel and student dormitories. The governor, Meftun Dallı, inspected the scene while the Turkish Red Crescent supplied hot meals to evacuees.
A total of 239 emergency calls were logged to the 112 Emergency Call Centre, and 170+ reports were received by Cide municipality. In Doğanyurt district, landslides closed six village roads. The emergency response mobilised 296 vehicles and work machines, 20 water pumps and 445 personnel, with additional rescue teams deployed to risky coastal zones.
