Kastamonu University holds white coat ceremony for 70 veterinary students

Seventy students at Kastamonu University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine participated in a white coat ceremony for the 2026-2027 academic year. The event, held at the Hoca Ahmet Yesevi Cultural Center, marked the students' formal entry into the veterinary profession.

During the ceremony, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaymakcı emphasized that veterinary education must integrate theoretical knowledge with practical skills, scientific thinking, and ethical responsibility. He noted that veterinarians play a critical role in animal health, public health, food security, and sustainable agriculture, particularly given Kastamonu's significant agricultural and livestock potential.

Former State Minister Murat Başesgioğlu highlighted the region's livestock statistics, noting that Kastamonu possesses approximately 370,000 head of livestock and an annual milk production of roughly 330,000 tons. He also mentioned that there are about 100 veterinarians in the public sector and a similar number in private clinics within the region.
