Kastoria hosts diaspora celebrations on August 16‑17, 2026

The Holy Metropolis of Kastoria and the Municipality of Kastoria are organizing a series of events to honor Kastorian expatriates on Sunday 16 August and Monday 17 August 2026. The programme begins with a morning Divine Liturgy, a bread‑blessing and a memorial service for deceased members of the diaspora at the Metropolitan Cathedral, followed by a reception in the “Tabitha” hall. In the evening, Metropolitan Callinikos will speak at the Monastery of the Dormition of the Theotokos‑Panagia Mavriotissa on themes about the future of Kastoria, after which the children’s choir of the Metropolis will perform.

On Monday, guided tours for expatriates will visit local tourist sites, including the lake settlement of Dystpilio, the Kastoria Aquarium, and a boat cruise on the “Olympia” along the northern and southern beaches, concluding with a reception.
