Kat Sandler discusses Yaga series and Baba Yaga myth at Comic-Con

Showrunner and executive producer Kat Sandler spoke at San Diego Comic‑Con about the new streaming series Yaga, which adapts the Slavic folk tale of Baba Yaga. Sandler said she was inspired by shows like Dexter and Hannibal and wanted to present a female anti‑hero, describing Baba Yaga as the “OG bad girl of fairytales.” She highlighted how moving the story from stage to screen allows many visual Easter eggs and greater control over tone and sexuality. Sandler also noted cast members Clark Backo and Noah Reid, and explained her character Detective Carson’s focus on protecting women within a patriarchal society.
