Kataeb Party demands dismantling of Hezbollah system

The Kataeb Party political bureau, chaired by Sami Gemayel, issued a statement calling for the dismantling of Hezbollah’s system and holding those responsible for a recent seizure of explosives accountable. The party urged the Lebanese state to take decisive measures to protect national security and stability, specifically requesting that the explosives file be referred immediately to the Judicial Council.

The party demanded that the government enforce decisions banning Hezbollah’s military and security activities, including the immediate confiscation of weapons and explosives caches to establish the authority of the Lebanese Army and legitimate security forces across all territory. Kataeb also warned against using Lebanon as a platform for Tehran and cautioned against being drawn into new support wars.

Furthermore, the Kataeb Party raised concerns regarding an illegal parallel economy protected by Hezbollah, noting its expansion into sectors like healthcare through the distribution of counterfeit medicine. They also criticized Hezbollah’s payment of shelter allowances, characterizing it as an attempt to fund and solidify displacement and engineer demographic changes. The party called for ending the conflict with Israel, ensuring Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese lands, and facilitating the return and reconstruction of displaced citizens' towns.
