Katara Quran Award sees registration from 60 countries
The Katara Cultural Village has announced that participants from 60 countries have registered for the Katara Quran Award. Under the slogan ‘Adorn the Quran with your voice,’ the competition aims to discover talented reciters and encourage the correct application of Tajwid rules.
For the first time, the number of non-Arab participants has exceeded the number of Arab participants. The registration includes 570 individuals from 18 Arab nations and 734 individuals from 42 non-Arab countries. An evaluation committee will select 100 participants, from which 15 will advance to the final round in Doha. Ultimately, 15 finalists will compete for the top three positions.
The total prize pool is 800,000 Qatari Riyals, with the first-place winner receiving 500,000, the second 200,000, and the third 100,000. The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Qatar has been an official sponsor since the award's inception in 2017.
