Katara superyacht threatens view of rare eclipse in Menorca

The superyacht Katara, owned by the Qatari royal family, caused concern among observers in Menorca during a rare astronomical eclipse on August 12. The vessel anchored near Cala Blanca and Santandría, threatening to obstruct the view for locals and visitors who had gathered to witness a phenomenon not seen in the region for 1,400 years.

While it was not confirmed if Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was aboard, the presence of the massive yacht followed the arrival of a Qatari royal Boeing 747 in Palma. The Katara is one of the largest superyachts in the world and remains a central asset of the Qatari royal family.
