Katarzyna Wasick wins 50m freestyle at World Cup in Tashkent

Polish swimmer Katarzyna Wasick secured her eighth consecutive victory in the 50m freestyle during the World Cup in Tashkent. Finishing with a time of 23.63 seconds, Wasick narrowly defeated Canada’s Taylor Ruck, who clocked 23.68 seconds, by a margin of just five hundredths of a second.

This win marks a significant streak for Wasick, who has won all three 50m freestyle races in both the 2024 and 2025 seasons. She is now one race away from completing her third consecutive perfect season in this discipline. The podium was completed by Daria Klepikova of Russia, who finished third with a time of 23.94 seconds.

Wasick is scheduled to compete in Astana next week, where she will have the opportunity to vie for her fourth career crown for winning all three stops in a single World Cup cycle.
