Kate Beckinsale wipes Instagram following body-shaming attacks

Actress Kate Beckinsale has cleared her Instagram profile of all posts following a wave of body-shaming and harassment from social media users. The 53-year-old star addressed the criticism by sharing screenshots of comments that accused her of being anorexic, using drugs, or utilizing Ozempic due to her recent weight loss.

Beckinsale explained that her physical changes are the result of both health struggles and personal grief. She revealed that she has lived with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), an autoimmune condition that affects her digestive system and can make eating dangerous. Additionally, she noted that her weight loss is a physical manifestation of bereavement, having lost her mother, Judy Loe, in 2025 and her stepfather, Roy Battersby, in 2024.

In her response to the trolls, Beckinsale suggested that the individuals making such comments might be ‘broken’ and emphasized that social media images cannot reflect the personal hardships or medical realities a person may be facing behind closed doors.
