Following these posts, Beckinsale updated her social media bio to link to a BBC report regarding the 2020 suicide of British television presenter Caroline Flack. While the actress has since deleted the specific messages, the link remains.

Beckinsale has recently been open about her struggles with grief and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) following the deaths of her mother, Judy Loe, and her stepfather, Roy Battersby. She previously addressed public criticism regarding her weight loss, noting it as a physical symptom of bereavement.
