Kate del Castillo bids farewell to La Reina del Sur role

Mexican actress Kate del Castillo has emotionally concluded her long-standing role as Teresa Mendoza in the Telemundo series ‘La Reina del Sur’. Following the filming of the fourth and final season in Colombia, Del Castillo shared a video expressing her gratitude and nostalgia for the character that has defined much of her career over the last 15 years.

Del Castillo described the character as a gratifying and complex antiheroine. She extended special thanks to the series' creator, author Arturo Pérez-Reverte, for his trust, as well as to the production team, directors, and the audience. The actress also noted the personal impact of the project, mentioning her relationship with cinematographer Édgar Baena, whom she met during production.

The final season is expected to premiere in 2027. The plot will follow Teresa Mendoza years later in Madrid, before a tragedy forces her return to Mexico to face new criminal networks.
