Kate Mara and Ashton Kutcher to star in dark comedy Home Shopper

Actors Kate Mara, Ashton Kutcher, Leslie Mann, and Billy Eichner have joined the cast of Home Shopper, a dark comedy directed by Tilman Singer. The film is an adaptation of Dev Patel’s 2018 Sundance short film.

The story follows Penny, played by Mara, who attempts to escape a controlling marriage by taking a job at a home shopping network. She works under the charismatic host Willy, played by Kutcher, while filling in for co-host Cybil, played by Mann. The plot involves themes of obsession, workplace conflict, and murder as Penny’s secret employment and the ambitions of others lead to rising tensions.

Ryan Farhoudi wrote the feature screenplay based on a story by Leigh Whannell. Filming is scheduled to begin in spring 2027. Architect has launched international sales for the project, with CAA Media Finance managing North American rights.
