Kateřina Konečná joins Patriots for Europe faction
European Parliament Member Kateřina Konečná, representing the Stačilo! coalition and formerly of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM), has announced her entry into the Patriots for Europe political group.
Konečná stated that her decision followed a long-term evaluation of political possibilities and internal analysis of voting patterns. She noted that her previous position as an unaffiliated member made it difficult to advance proposals, as they often lacked support from relevant parliamentary clubs.
The Patriots for Europe group was established in 2024 by figures including Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, Hungarian leader Viktor Orbán, and Austrian Freedom Party leader Herbert Kickl. Konečná will now serve alongside Babiš’s ANO movement within the same faction, despite having previously criticized the Prime Minister on various political and economic issues.
