Katerini begins urban redevelopment at city entrance

Urban redevelopment works are underway at the entrance of Katerini to improve the city's landscape and environmental identity. The project focuses on Thessaloniki Street, between Kassandrou and Mouson streets, and includes the creation of green spaces and parking areas for people with disabilities near the new Cultural Center.

The initiative aims to connect the city center with new landmarks while reducing pollution. The project features the replacement of old paving with eco-friendly 'cool materials' and the installation of tactile paving for the visually impaired.

The total contractual budget is €702,584.47. The Green Fund, under the Ministry of Environment and Energy, is providing €629,895, with the remainder covered by the Municipality of Katerini. Completion is expected by early 2027.
