Katey Sagal celebrates 40 years of sobriety

Actress Katey Sagal, known for her roles in ‘Married... with Children’, ‘Futurama’, and ‘Sons of Anarchy’, recently celebrated 40 years of continuous sobriety. The 72-year-old marked the milestone with a garden party attended by her husband, Kurt Sutter, and her three children, Sarah Grace White, Jackson White, and Esme Sutter.

Sagal has been sober since 1986. She has previously shared that her substance use began at age 15 as a way to cope with emotional pain, including the loss of her parents and a cancer diagnosis in her 20s. She noted that sobriety required her to confront these emotions directly and emphasized the importance of community in her recovery.

Her journey has also impacted her son, actor Jackson White, who stated that watching his mother’s recovery demonstrated that change is possible. White noted that his mother’s example helped him navigate his own life and find a sense of purpose.
