Katharine Beamer appointed U.S. Consul General in Ciudad Juárez

The United States announced that Katharine Beamer will become the Consul General of the U.S. Consulate General in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, effective 27 July 2026. Beamer, a career foreign service officer with 25 years of diplomatic experience, previously served as Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Belize and directed the State Department’s Office of Caribbean Affairs. Her earlier postings include assignments in Guatemala, Poland, Slovakia, Bolivia, the Dominican Republic and other posts in Washington.

She replaces Rafael Foley, who had led the consulate until 7 July. The consulate’s jurisdiction covers the entire state of Chihuahua, a region of high migration and cross‑border economic activity.

Beamer, a native of Encinitas, California, holds a bachelor's degree in International Relations and a master's in Sociology from Stanford University. She arrives in Ciudad Juárez with her husband, also a diplomat, their teenage twins and a rescued dog.
